Steven Ettinger Obituary

Steven Jon Ettinger, 46 of Saybrook Road, Sheffield, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday August 11, 2020 with his loving family by his side.  Steve was born on July 16, 1974 in Warren to Jon Ettinger and Shounda  Zurcher Schrader.  He was a graduate of Warren High School with the class of 1993.  He went on to serve his country in The United States Air Force where he received his training as an electronics technician, a profession he carried through to his work at Allied Alarm and then Betts Industry until his health declined.  Steve was an awesome person.  He spent countless hours coaching little league and T-Ball.  He could often be found refereeing basketball games.  He was an avid New York Yankees and Miami Dolphins fan.  He thoroughly enjoyed tinkering and building things and taking things apart and the challenge of putting them back together.  He loved his food smoker and barbequing and loved to entertain.

Being raised by his grandparents, Steve was taught at a young age just how important family was.  He was a true family man.  He was a wonderful husband and father and was referred to by his children as King Dad the Great.  Steve was a member of Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church of Warren.  He was a member and past president of Cherry Grove Volunteer Fire Department.  Steve will be thoroughly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His legacy will remain in the hearts of many.  Steve fought his battle with cancer for 19 years, but not once did he even think of giving up.  On Tuesday, Jesus welcomed him to his heavenly home, took him by the hand and said “well done my good and faithful servant.”

Left behind to cherish Steve’s memory are the love of his life, his wife Samantha  Beane Ettinger, his daughter Adalyn Sue Ettinger and son Myles Drake Ettinger.  He is further survived by a sister Christina (Tina)and Steven Dinger of Russell, his extended family Katherine and Scott Eck of Sheffield, Stacey and Gary Byers of Sheffield, Darren and Karla Drake of Virginia Beach, VA, and Marcy and Jack (Jay) Byers of Sheffield  and several nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by three great friends Terry (Brandi) Richards, Mark (Emily) Heeter, and Ryan (Tricia) McBride.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Maxine and Gale Ettinger, his mother and father-in-law Susan Beane Anthony and Frank Beane and a sister in law, Karen McKown.

Steve’s family will welcome family and friends on Sunday August 16, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Borden Funeral Home of Sheffield.  Private family services will be held at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Matthew Scott, Vicar of the Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church of Warren officiating.  The Cherry Grove Volunteer Fire Department will offer a final salute at the service.  Burial will be private.

Memorial donations may be made in Steve’s memory to the Cherry Grove Volunteer Fire Department, 6045 Cherry Grove Road, Clarendon, PA 16313 or the Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department at 17 North Main Street, Clarendon, PA 16313 or the Sheffield Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 491, Sheffield, PA 16347.
