Shala McKinney

Shala Nadine McKinney, 40 of Clarendon passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at her residence.  She was born in Altoona, PA on August 6, 1983, the daughter of James G. McKinney and Valentino (Tina) Marano.  She was a 2001 graduate of Avon High School in Avon, Indiana and furthered her education by attending Purdue University.  She was most recently employed by Warren County as an Administrative Assistant to the District Attorney’s Office.  Shala was protestant by faith.  She started off her day with her love of coffee.  She enjoyed camping and fishing with her friends.  Shala was a people person.  She was friendly and outgoing and fun to be around.  She had her daily journal and would always make notes and doodles.  She thoroughly enjoyed music in general.  She liked elephants and dinosaurs, but you could often find her on the porch with her cup of coffee watching the sun rise or set.  She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Left behind to cherish Shala’s memory are her three children, one son and two daughters: Lee James Kaylor of Rushville, IN; Lillian Joy Jones of Warren, PA; and Violet Joy Jones of Clarendon, PA; as well as her brother Luke Arthur McKinney of Crossville, TN.  She is also survived by her father, James and stepmother, Deborah McKinney and her significant other, Andrew Bailey.  She is further survived by her faithful friend, “Turtle” her cat.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Valentina “Tina” Marano.  You will always be loved Sugarfoot.

Shala’s family will welcome family and friends on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Borden Funeral Home and again on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Funeral services will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home with Pastor Ruth Ann Varrato presiding.  To leave an online condolence for Shala Nadine McKinney, please visit www.bordenfuneralhome.com
