Ronald Blum Obituary

Ronald Charles Blum, 81, of Sheffield passed away at his home early Saturday morning November 23, 2019, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Erie on May 23, 1938, to Clinton Blum and Deloris Ruth Miller. He attended the St. Josephs Academy in Erie. Ron served our country in the United States Navy. He was a machinist by trade and worked at the former O’Conner machine shop. Ron was a quiet man who greatly enjoyed his home, he enjoyed doing woodwork, but he took great pride in working on his flower gardens and was most meticulous about mowing his yard. Ron enjoyed a good game of pool from time to time. One of Ron’s daily chores was going to the post office and was escorted by his granddaughter, Tory. Leaving behind to cherish Ron’s memory are his daughter Theresa Fry and her husband Breck of Sheffield, his son Ronald M. Blum of Sheffield, his grandchildren Robin Mathews, Joey Blum, Tory Fry, and Erin Fry, and also three great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews, one brother Arthur Blum of Erie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Judith Marie Blum, a sister Joann Lapaglia, and his daughter Susan Lynn Blum. Ron’s family will welcome family and friends on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Borden Funeral Home of Sheffield. Visitation will also be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Friday, November 29, 2019, at the Sheffield United Methodist Church. Services will follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Douglas Brink, church pastor, officiating. Burial will take place at the St. Michaels’ Cemetery in Sheffield with full military honors given by the Sheffield V.F.W. memorial donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Hospice of Warren County 2 West Crescent Park Warren, PA 16365 or the Alzheimer’s Association 1600 Peninsula Drive Suite 15 Erie, PA 16505, attention: Sarah G.
