Ronald Clinton Bean, 93, of Santee South Carolina, formerly a long-time resident of Sheffield, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2020 in South Carolina. He was born in Warren, PA on April 19, 1927 to Shirley Clinton Bean and Alice Park Bean. After high school and attending college, Ron served his country in WWII with the U.S. Navy SeaBees and in Korea with the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life Marie Alice Eckert on June 17, 1950. Together they celebrated 70 years of marriage. Ron gained employment with the United States Postal Service serving as postmaster for Tiona as well as Chandler’s Valley, and Irvine, PA totaling well over 50 years of service. Ron was a member of the Cherry Grove Community Church. He served on countless boards and was a member of the Sheffield Lion’s Club, the Sheffield Rod & Gun Club, the Sheffield Vet’s club and the Sheffield Senior Center. His greatest passion was being a member of the Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department where he gave countless hours of service to the Sheffield community. He served the department in many positions as past assistant fire chief, firefighter, and was also past ambulance chief. He was respected by his fellow firefighters and will be greatly missed by the Sheffield community.
Left to cherish is memory are his wife Marie Alice Bean of Santee, SC, his daughter Sandra Mae Bean Meyer, Bowman, SC, and his son Nester Eugene Bean of Lancaster, PA. He is also survived by four grandchildren Rachel Judy, Taylor Bean, Morgan Bean, and Dani Bean. Two great grandchildren Michael and Elizabeth Judy. He was preceded in death by his son Daniel Clinton Bean on October 8,2014 and a daughter Terre Marie Bean on October 4, 1959. He was also preceded in death by three brothers Lavern, James and David Bean and five sisters, Betty Kopenhoffer, Barbara Stanko, Geraldine Cook, Lucille Smith, and Nedra Harris.
