Rich (Richie) Asel

Rich (Richie) Andrew Asel, 45, of Ludlow, PA passed away peacefully on Monday November 3, 2025, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital. He was born in Kane, PA on April 6, 1980, the son of Richard Asel and the late Terri Petruney Asel. He attended Kane Area Schools. He was employed at Rob Schmidt Trucking as a Logger and was currently Assistant Chief of the Ludlow Volunteer Fire Department. Some of his interests were hunting, fishing, camping with family and friends and Kane 8 Ball pool league. Rich enjoyed spending time with his dog, AJ.

Left behind to cherish Rich’s memory are his long-time girlfriend Casey Snyder of Ludlow, PA, Daughter Kylee Asel of Ludlow, PA, his beloved puppy dog AJ, his father Richard (Sylvia) Asel of Kane, PA, two brothers Troy (Jennifer) Asel of Kane, PA, Matt (Jessica) Asel of Ludlow, PA. Many cousins include Beth Boedecker, Tessa Hazen, Tanya Kitchen, Jeff (Miranda) and Ben (Selina) Asel. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother Terri Lynn (Petruney) Asel, grandparents Richard and Anne Asel, sister Sara Lynn Asel, his Uncle Tom and Aunt Marianne Johnston, and his very special cousin Rob (Bobby) Asel.

Rich’s family will welcome friends on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm at the Borden Funeral Home, 203 West Main Street in Sheffield, Pa.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the Sheffield United Methodist Church, 11 West Main Street, Sheffield, PA with Pastor David Jett, presiding.  Burial will follow at Mount Tabor Cemetery, Kane, Pa.
