Paula Traister Obituary

Paula J. Traister, 74, a lifelong resident of Clarendon, PA passed away on Friday evening, August 9, 2024, at Alleghany General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA with her loving family by her side after a brief illness.  She was born in Smethport on October 31, 1949, the daughter of Francis Foley and Beatrice (Thomas) Foley.  She married the love of her life, Harold Traister on April 4, 1970, in Brookville, PA.  Together they raised three children.  Paula was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Sheffield.  She retired as a CNA with Helpmates.  Paula loved all the holidays and would especially look forward to preparing Christmas breakfast for her entire family.  She had a heart of gold who would welcome anyone into her home and always made sure they had plenty to eat before leaving.  In her spare time, she liked to crochet.  Paula was a longtime member of the Clarendon VFD Ladies Auxiliary.  Above everything else Paula’s love for her family was unconditional.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Left behind to cherish Paula’s memory are her three children: her sons Chauncey Traister of Cherry Grove; Chad (Jessica) Traister of Cherry Grove; her daughter Jody Stewart (Mark) of Clarendon; her brother Bill (Sam) Foley of Sheffield, and her sister Carla (Al) Ace of Sheffield.  She is also survived by six grandchildren: Chauncey, Jr., Slater, Cooper, Tierra, Tiffany, Courtney as well as five great grandchildren: Wyatt, Parker, Carter, Eliza, and Hazel.

Paula’s family will welcome friends on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Borden Funeral Home in Sheffield, PA.  A blessing will take place at 3:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home with Father Mark O’Hern of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic in Sheffield.  Private burial for family members will follow at the Sheffield Cemetery.  The family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to the Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department, 17 North Main St., Clarendon, PA, 16313.
