Obituary

Nancy Karen Standley, 79, of Warren passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Sunday evening, December 4, 2022, at the John & Orpha Blair Hospice Home in Warren.  Nancy was born on January 3, 1943, in Warren, the daughter of the late Arthur R. Temple and Helen M. (Rowland) Temple.  She was a 1960 graduate of Warren High School.  She attended and graduated from the Orra Jean Beauty Academy in 1961 as a licensed beautician. She married Edward N. Standley on December 7, 1968, who preceded her in death on March 26, 2010. Nancy was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.  She was also active with the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and PTA.  She was a life member of the Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary with over 35 Years of service. She held various offices and participated in many fundraising activities. She was also active with the PA Jaycee Wives and Jaycettes. Her service earned her recognition as an “Outstanding Young Woman of America.”  Nancy enjoyed spending her summers at Red Oak Campground with her “Camping Family”. She enjoyed baking and supplying everyone with her sweet treats.

Nancy will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her loving family.  Left behind to cherish Nancy’s memory are her brother Frank (Jean) Temple, and her four children: David (Dottye) Tipton, John (Cheri) Tipton, Jennifer (Robert) Telford, and Jessica (Bill) Jones, all of Warren County and stepsons Neil Bloom and Ernie Shreck. Grandchildren: Ryan (Ronna) Tipton, Rachael (Devin) Ohl, Angela (Rick) Smith, CT (Regina) Toombs, Jason (Elissa Wolf) Tipton, John (Dawn) Wesolowski, Victoria (Nicholas) Dale, Felicia (Eric Hawley) Telford, Matthew Telford, Shael Standley, Nick Jones, Mike Jones, Emilie Jones, Chris (Megan) Bloom, Andrea Bloom, Michaela (Samuel) Painter, Kyle Shreck. Great Grandchildren: Owen Tipton, Jonah Swartz, Riley Ohl, Landon Ohl, Samantha Davis, Cody Davis, Richie Smith, Justin Ransom, Katelyn Ransom, Madilyn Wesolowski, Karliah Dale, Brantley Defoy, Milana Defoy, Hunter Telford, Weston Telford, Octavia Bloom, Zaniyan Bloom, Beau Bloom, and her long-time best friend Mary Lou Gigliotti.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her stepfather Vernon (Pat) Dorrance, who raised her and a stepdaughter Brenda Shreck.

Visitation for Nancy will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 Pleasant Drive, Warren PA. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jeff Ewing, officiating. Burial will follow at the Warren County Memorial Park.

Nancy’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Home for the exceptional care they provided to our mother.
