Martha M Smith

Martha M. Smith, 81 formally of Sheffield, passed away Tuesday evening December 15, 2020 at Warren Manor.  She was born on September 27, 1939 in Kane, PA to Bruce Smith and Helen (Baynes) Smith.  Martha was a 1957 graduate of Sheffield High School and earned the honor of being her class Valedictorian.  She furthered her education with a Bachelors Degree from Penn State.  She was employed by Kodak in Rochester, New York and worked in administration.  After her retirement, she returned home to Sheffield.  Martha was a longtime member of the Sheffield United Methodist Church and was church secretary for many years.  She was a previous member of the Warren County School Board where she held the office of President.  Martha enjoyed shopping and liked to relax by reading a good novel as reading was her passion along with doing the New York Times crossword puzzles.  She previously assisted in putting together the Valley Voice, a weekly Sheffield newspaper.  Left behind to cherish Martha’s memory are her sister Donna (Smith) Anderson of Jamestown, New York, her nephew, Robert B. Anderson of Jamestown, NY and her niece Kate Burnett of Celoron, New York.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Harry Pugh.  A memorial service will be held at the Sheffield United Methodist Church and announced at a later date.  Burial will be at the Sheffield Cemetery.  Memorial donation may be made by the donors choice.  The family has entrusted the Borden Funeral Home of Sheffield with the arrangements.  To leave an online condolence for Martha M.
