Loren Sederburg Obituary

Loren N. “Butch” Sederburg, age 72, of Tiona, PA, passed away peacefully, at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, February 10, 2021, surrounded by his loving son and pastor.

He was born on August 7, 1948 in Warren, PA, the son of the late Clair and Thea Sederburg.  He graduated from Warren Area High School in 1966 and then served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  Following his tour, he completed his undergraduate degree in Education at Edinboro College.

Loren was a longtime psychiatric nurse, having worked at Polk Center, Warren State Hospital, and most recently with Beacon Light.  He dedicated his life ministering to others who suffered from addiction and mental illness.

Loren attended church throughout his life and he was saved.  Church and fellowship were very important to both he and his wife, Patricia.  God was life.  Some of his favorite sayings were “One day at a time”, “Don’t sweat the small stuff”, “You don’t have to like it; you just have to do it”, “Ten-four”, and “Do the next right thing”.  Butch regularly reflected on God’s grace, and his favorite hymn was “Amazing Grace”.

He enjoyed the outdoors, sailing, building projects, working on cars, reading, and spending time with friends and family. He sailed the Caribbean, traveled to most every state in the U.S., built his own home from the ground up and even hand built his own teardrop trailer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia Elaine Sederburg, son Scott Travis Sederburg, and sister Joan Garris.

He is survived by his sons Loren Neil Sederburg Jr. and Steven Jay Sederburg (wife Kimberly). Also surviving are four grandchildren:  Justin, Joshua, Kylie, and Paul, and four “adopted daughters” Melissa, Tamara, Mary Beth, and Lisa.

The family will receive friends and family at Borden Funeral Home in Sheffield on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 3-6 p.m., at which time a Celebration of Life Service will be held with Pastor Matt Koerber officiating.
