Kenneth Mohney Obituary

Kenneth C. Mohney, Jr., 69, a long time Sheffield area resident, passed away on Friday morning, February 18, 2022, at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania after an extended illness.  He was born on January 20, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Kenneth C. Mohney, Sr. and Alice (Rauscher) Mohney.  Ken was a graduate of North High School in Eastlake, Ohio.  Ken gained employment with the Department of Transportation and was employed with them for well over 25 years.

Ken was a humble man who enjoyed nature.  He loved the outdoors, camping, shooting guns and had a great love for horses and enjoyed caring for them.  He had a passion for music, as well, and belonged to a polka band named “Just Having Fun”.  He played the accordion and guitar.  He was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sheffield VFW.  Ken was Roman Catholic by faith.  He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Left behind to cherish Ken’s memory are his daughter Karin Mohney; a brother, John Mohney and his wife Maria; two sisters, Carol and her husband Tom, all of Ohio, Kelly Carnabuci and her husband Mark, of Georgia; two grandchildren, Robert Mohney and Kamryn Mohney, also of Ohio.  Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his partner in life, Melinda Namesnik.

Ken’s family will receive family and friends on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Borden Funeral Home of Sheffield.  A Blessing Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. with Father Stephen Schreiber presiding.  Burial will follow at the Sheffield Cemetery.  To leave an online condolence, please visit www.bordenfuneralhome.com.
