John Greto

John Paul Greto, 57, of Sheffield passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, October 1, 2021 at his home.  He was born on December 1, 1963 in Warren.  The son of Vito Greto and Patricia (Reilley) Greto, John was a graduate of Sheffield High School.  His career spanned many years in sales and retail.  John was a faithful employee of Howe’s True Value in Warren where he always greeted people with a smile and was willing to assist in any way that he could.  Most recently, John was employed at A-N-O Oil Field of Sheffield.

John was Catholic by faith.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed walking with his dogs in Sheffield.  He would always take time to stop and talk to people in Sheffield.  John was an avid fisherman and thoroughly looked forward to the first day of fishing season.  He would take his nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews out for the day.  They loved spending time with their Uncle John.  Above all else John’s family was the most important to him.  He was so very proud of his sons and their accomplishments.  John was a good man who will be missed by so many, especially the people of Sheffield.

Left behind to cherish John’s memory are his wife Jackie E. Greto at home, two sons, Jordan Martin Greto of Avon, North Carolina, and Jared (Jeb) Greto of Sheffield, his sisters Kathy (Eric) Wilcox of Sugar Grove, Karen (Tom) First Greto of Lander, Ruth (Dave) Dennis of North East and a sister in law, Lori Greto.  John is further survived by his extended family John (Lynn) Martin of Youngsville, Jane (John) Blake of Youngsville, Jill (Bob) Gorton of Warren, Jodi (David) Fitch of Sheffield, his very special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mike Greto.

John’s family will welcome family and friends on Monday, Oct0ber 4, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Borden Funeral Home of Sheffield.  A blessing service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Father Stephen Schreiber from St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church of Sheffield officiating.
