Janet Louise (Mong) Gustafson, 83, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at her home after an extended illness.
Born August 11, 1938 to Agnes (Wood) and John Mong of Warren, PA, Janet was a lifelong resident of Warren County. She graduated from Warren High School in 1956 and attended Edinboro College. Janet met her husband Dave Gustafson through mutual friends and was married October 12, 1963.
Janet moved to Sheffield with her husband and worked at the Sheffield Medical Center for fifteen years and then was the Town Librarian of Sheffield for 30 years before she retired. She was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church, a member of Eastern Star and so thankful for the special years with “The Lunch Bunch”, “The Widows Club” and the time spent at Lake Chautauqua.
Janet is survived by her daughter Sherie Edenborn and her husband Hank of Finleyville, Pennsylvania; her son Jeff Gustafson and his wife Shannon of Allegany, New York; two grandchildren, Abigail Edenborn and Jayden Gustafson; two step-grandchildren Gracie and Vincent Amore; a sister-in-law, Betty (Gustafson) Mailhot and two nieces, Barbara Tonnissen and Bonnie Irvin.
In addition to her husband of 58 years, she was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in law Dorothy (Rydgren) Gustafson, brother J. Larry Mong and brother-in-law Robert (Bob) Gustafson.
There will be no calling hours and burial will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Warren County or Bethany Lutheran Church, Sheffield.
