Elizabeth Anne (Liz) Vincent, 85, of Gastonia, NC, a long-time resident of Sheffield, PA passed away peacefully early Saturday morning October 28, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Gastonia, NC. She was born in Kane, PA on May 25, 1938, the daughter of Edna E. (Peterson) and Francis L. Borden. Liz was a 1956 graduate of Sheffield High School and continued her education at Clarion University, graduating in 1960 with a degree in Education. She taught elementary school within the Warren County School District. She taught Sunday School at the Sheffield United Methodist Church for many years where she was a lifelong member of the church. She married James E. (Jim) Vincent at the Sheffield United Methodist Church on May 28, 1960. Together they raised three children. Liz was a quiet lady who always had a smile to share. Her compassion and true understanding with a heart of gold was a comfort to many families within Sheffield and the surrounding area as she was a vital part, along with her husband, brother and sister-in-law of the Borden Funeral Home in Sheffield.
After retirement Liz moved to South Carolina where she was affiliated with the Parkwood Baptist Church. Liz enjoyed her quiet time with her Lord and Savior, gardening, reading and quilting. She thoroughly enjoyed music.
Left behind to cherish Liz’s memory are her children: Cheryl Wisener & husband Rickey of York, SC; Jim Vincent and wife Karen of Oklahoma City, OK; Mindy Townsend and husband Jason of Gastonia, NC; her grandchildren: Cynthia, Clarissa, Carina, Joseph and wife Makenzie, Joshua Wisener, Anna, Addison, Sophia, James and Jackson Townsend; her great granddaughter, Josephine Wisener. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Judy Borden; a niece, Beth Borden; a nephew, Bob Borden; several great nieces and a great nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents: Edna E. and Frances L. Borden, her husband Jim Vincent and her brother, Jerry Borden.
There will be no public calling hours observed. A private family committal and burial was held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Sheffield Cemetery. Pastor Dan Dahlgren presided.
