Dewey Elmer Doverspike, 102 formally of Sheffield, passed away Friday March 6, 2020 at the Rouse Home, He was born December 14, 1918 in New Bethleham, PA (Clarion County) to Calvin Doverspike and Carrie (Troup) Doverspike. Dewey was a High School graduate. He married the love of his life Bernice Clare Reed on September 24, 1941 in Oak Ridge, PA. Together they celebrated 78 years of marriage. Dewey was a member of the Barnes United Methodist Church. He retired from the former O’Connor Machine CO. as a machinist. After Dewey retired he could often be found working at home in his garage on small jobs related to his career as a machinist, in his earlier years he liked to go hunting and Fishing. Dewey enjoyed being outdoors where he raised a bountiful vegetable garden. Left behind to cherish Dewey’s memory are his son; Gerald E. (Jerry) Doverspike of Sheffield, his sister; Helen Schreckengost, his brother; Glenn Doverspike, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bernice, his two son’s Dewey Doverspike and Robert Doverspike and his granddaughter Rena Lee Doverspike.
There will be no calling hours or services held. Burial will take place at the Sheffield Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Dewey’s memory to the Sheffield Ambulance Service PO Box 491 Sheffield, PA 16347. Final arrangement have been entrusted to the Borden Funeral Home of Sheffield, PA.
