Clarence Pees

Clarence Jay (Butch) Pees, 75, a lifelong Warren resident passed away Friday afternoon, July 21, 2023, at Warren General Hospital.  He was born in Warren on April 23, 1948.  The son of the late Stephen Pees and Betty (Winchester) Pees, Jay was a 1966 graduate of Warren High School.  His two favorite passions in life were racing and photography.  As a young man, in 1956, he attended the first inaugural race at State Line Speedway.  He lived and breathed racing and every single chance he would get he would be in attendance at a race.  He was a gifted photographer who enjoyed the natural beauty in people and nature.

Jay was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous walking beside many people on the path of recovery.  Jay accumulated 40 years of continuous sobriety and was a role model and mentor to many people locally and around the region. When anyone, anywhere needed help Jay was always there.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Stephen Pees, Jr.   Left behind to cherish Jay’s memory are his sisters: Rebecca Hughes of Orlando, Florida; Barbara (Brian) Babcock of North Warren; three nieces: Michelle Babcock, Amanda King and Stephanie Gurley; one nephew, Eliott Hughes; as well as five great nephews and four great nieces.  There will be no calling hours observed. The public is invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at 12:30 at the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center at 207 2nd Avenue, Warren, PA.  The family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to Auto Racers for Kids Charities, Inc., PO Box 84, McKean, PA  16426.
