Carol A Moldovan

Carol A. Moldovan, 92, a lifelong resident of Sheffield, PA, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, November 30, 2025, at the Rouse Estates in Youngsville, Pa, after a period of declining health. She was born in Warren, PA on July 21, 1933, the daughter of the late James Lauffenberger and Edna Smead Lauffenberger. 

She was a graduate of Waren High School. She married the love of her life George T. Moldovan in June of 1954 at the St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Sheffield, Pa. Together they raised four children.  She was employed for over 25 years in the mailing department at Blair Corporation, in Warren.  She was a longtime member of the St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church of Sheffield and for many years was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. 

Carol loved to sew, knit and crochet.  She made countless articles of clothing, especially for her daughter as young girl, one could refer to Carol as a master seamstress.  She enjoyed her weekly quilting time with the ladies of the Sheffield United Methodist Church.  She also loved holiday baking, she took great pride in her yard, she was meticulous about her flowers and her yard.  Above all else she was an optimist, no matter how bad a situation seemed, she also looked on the bright side of everything.  Her faith and trust carried her through her lifetime. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who had the privilege and honor of knowing her.  Especially by her loving family and the Sheffield community. 

Left behind to cherish Carol’s memory are her daughter Lisa Montgomery (Scott) of Jamestown, NY, her sons Terry Moldovan (Sally) of Warren, PA, Brian Moldovan (Lisa) of Sheffield, PA and Scott Moldovan (Karen) of Florida.  Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Edna Lauffenberger and her stepfather Willard Timmis, her husband George T. Moldovan and her sister Janet Day.

Mrs. Moldovan’s family will welcome friends on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Borden Funeral Home, 203 West Main Street, Sheffield, PA.  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Ruth Ann Varotto, presiding.  Entombment will follow at the Saint Joseph Mausoleum in Warren, PA.
