Bruce Melquist

Bruce E. Melquist ,94, of Sheffield, PA passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on January 9, 2024.  He was born on December 17, 1929, in Jamestown, NY to the late Hazel Grubbs and Conrad Melquist.  Bruce served his country from October 1951 to October 1959.  He worked as a tool maker at Loranger Mfg for many years.  He was a proud member of the Presque Isle Wood Turners Club.  Bruce could often be found tinkering around his wood shop.   He loved crafting on his lathe, building wood projects and playing cards with friends.  Most of all he loved spending time with family. 

Bruce is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Melquist, his mother, Hazel Grubbs, his father, Conrad Grubbs, stepfather Serrill Grubbs, sister Beverly Ralston, brother, Conrad Melquist, brother, John Grubbs and granddaughter Julie Melquist.

He is survived by his children Terry Melquist (Colleen) of Sheffield, PA, Randy Melquist of Sheffield, PA, Sherry Anderson (Steve) of Corry, PA, and Michael Melquist (Paula) of Youngsville, PA.  Bruce is also survived by his grandchildren Eric, Katie, Kelsie, Aaron and Mikayla along with many great grandchildren.

Bruce’s family will welcome family and friends on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.at the Borden Funeral Home in Sheffield, PA.  Services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with lay minister Denise Sturdevant presiding.  Military Honors will be accorded by the Sheffield VFW Honor Guard.  To leave an online condolence for Bruce E.
