Robert L. (Bob) Nearing, 87, of Hampstead, North Carolina, a longtime resident of Sheffield, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at his home in Hampstead, North Carolina.  Bob was born on October 7, 1934 in Montmorency, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Ira Lee and Grace Viola (Okaneski) Nearing.  Bob honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1952-1956.  He retired from the US Forestry Service in 1990.

Left behind to cherish Bob's memory are his children: Kelly Nearing of Sheffield, Pennsylvania, Kimberly (John) Nearing of Rochester, New York, Kayleen Folga of Warren, Pennsylvania, Kerry (Stephanie) Nearing of Sheffield, Pennsylvania, Kris (Lonny) Heeter or Sheffield, Pennsylvania, Kamille (Ryan) Highhouse of Warren, Pennsylvania, and many grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife of 50 years, Clarice "Punky" Nearing.  A local memorial service will be held at a later date.  Bob's family has entrusted local arrangements to the Borden Funeral Home of Sheffield, Pennsylvania.
