Marty) Joseph Kasaback
April 16, 1939 – September 22, 2019
Martin Joseph (Marty) Kasaback, 80, of Sheffield passed away Sunday afternoon September 22, 2019, at UPMC Hamot hospital in Erie. He was born in Sheffield on April 16, 1939, to August Kasaback and Mary (Mishenko) Kasaback. After high school, Marty went on to serve our country in the United States' Army. In 1959, he married his wife the former Anne (Moore). Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Marty was employed at National Forge as a crane operator. He assisted in the collaboration of creating the union, and he went on to serve as the union president. He was an active member of the St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Sheffield, where he held many positions, and through the years was a big part of the fish fries. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Sheffield Lions Club, as well as the SheffieldClarendon V.F.W. Marty could very often be found taking people to their doctors appointments and assisting those in need. He enjoyed animals, but his real love was for his dogs and cats. Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his wife Anne at home, his sons John M. Kasaback of Sheffield and Lance S. Kasaback of Thousand Oaks CA., his daughter Mary Beth Deal and husband Bryan of Pittsburgh, a brother James Kasaback of Kane, two sisters, Rita Kasaback of Warren and Jean Bretzin of Portville New York, also by six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Kyle Chase Johnson, and also by one brother and two sisters. Marty's family will welcome family and friends on Friday September 27, 2019 from 10:00am11:00am at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Sheffield. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:am with Father Steve Schreiber, church pastor. As celebrant burial will follow in St. Michaels Cemetery in Sheffield with full military honors given by the SheffieldClarendon V.F.W. Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Redeemer St. Anthony Parish II Russell St. Warren, PA 16365, the Sheffield Ambulance Service P.O. Box 491 Sheffield, PA 16347, or the Warren County Humane Society 212 Elm St. Warren, PA 16365.
