Louann Marie Holben gained her angel wings on May 6, 2022, after a long courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home. She was born December 15, 1965, in Boston Massachusetts. She is the daughter of Ernest Geno Scali and Lucille Barber. Louann grew up in the loving home of her grandmother, Josephine Barber in Huntington, Vermont. From a young age, Louann was always finding where the fun was at and just enjoying it to the fullest. Growing up she loved going to barn dances hanging with her closest friends and her loving older brother Tony, chasing any excitement she could find. Louann had three amazing children: Eric, Travis, and Ashlee. Louann had many friends in life, but one special friend stood out above all the others, Miss Kelly Paya. They have been friends since they both were 4 years old. Some people come and go in life, but Kelly stayed Louann’s best friend throughout life for 52 years. Nothing could tear them apart and blood couldn’t make them any closer.
Louann graduated Tidewater Community College in Virginia where she studied medical billing and coding. She was a traveler. She lived in many states until she finally settled down with the love of her life, her best friend and soul mate that she was so very fortunate to have all in one person for fourteen years. They moved to Sheffield, Pennsylvania to call their forever home. Living there, Louann became a great CNA and loved all her patients as her own family. She loved sitting by the fire with friends, going to the bar, riding down the creek on a float and just making everyone smile. When Louann first got diagnosed, she didn’t let that stop her and she faced it with all she had.
Louann was met at Heaven’s gates by her meme, mother, brother, mother-in-law, two grandbabies who were too beautiful for earth and her second mother. Louann leaves behind her amazing husband, Ernie Holben of Sheffield, Pennsylvania; son Eric Mashia and wife Maghen and their daughter Kylie of Hinesburg, Vermont; a son, Travis Birchmore and spouse April and their children Austin, Neveah, Madison and Abigail; and a daughter Ashlee Orvis and her fiancé Danny and their children Tyler, Madison, Ian, Xander and Livia.
Louann’s family would like to give a special thank you to all the fabulous girls at Warren Cancer Center for their amazing care throughout Louann’s treatments and the funeral home for helping with the final arrangements and making them go smoothly as possible. At Louann’s request, there will be no funeral services. Rest in paradise, you are finally free, spread your wings and fly high.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Borden Funeral Home of Sheffield, Pennsylvania. To leave an online condolence please visit www.bordenfuneralhome.com.
