Harry Hanson

Harry R. (Squeek) Hanson, 88, a lifelong resident of Sheffield, PA passed away Wednesday evening January 10, 2024, at Warren General Hospital.  He was born on July 16, 1935, in his home in Sheffield where he has lived his lifetime.  The son of the late John Harry Hanson and Ruth (Anderson) Hanson.  Squeek was a 1953 graduate of Sheffield High School.  He was taught the meaning of work at a young age.  At 12 years old, he set pins at the bowling alley.  Starting at the age of 15 he painted houses with Loreen Wright.  Continuing at age 16, he delivered groceries for Sheffield Supply Company and then worked at Jones Chevy dealership.  He gained full-time employment with Sheffield Township as Supervisor Roadmaster, retiring after 27 years.  Squeek had been president of the Barnes Cemetery and was a member of the Eagles Club in Warren.  Squeek will be greatly missed by his loving family and the Sheffield Community. 

Left behind to cherish Squeek’s memory are his loving wife Virginia Hanson of Sheffield PA; four children: Bryan of Barnes PA, Susan (Frank) of Tylersburg PA,  Mark (Michele) of Sheffield PA, John (Melissa) of Sheffield PA; four step children:  Kevin (Ardie) of Kane PA, Melissa (Phillip) of Brockport NY, Aaron (Christine) of Russell PA, Nathan (Samantha) of Tiona PA; Grandchildren: Travis (Mary), Tonya (Ryan), Karrie (Robbie), Derek, Elaine, Tony, Austin, Colton, Ian (Valerie), Emily, Nicholas, Emily, Jack, Cody (Claire), Kevin (Alyssa), Alex, Zachery, Seth, Micah, Isaac, Nicholas (Rachel), Andrew and twenty great grandchildren.  He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Diane (Engard) Hanson in 1982.  He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Shirley (James “Bucky”) Shettler and Carolyn (Pete) Russ.

Squeek’s family will welcome family and friends on Monday, January 15, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Borden Funeral Home in Sheffield, PA.  Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Pastor Ruth Ann Varrota presiding.  Private Burial for family only will follow at the Barnes Cemetery.  The family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made in Squeek’s memory to the Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 551, Sheffield, PA 16347.
